"Malaxa" factory was founded in 1921, by the Nicolae Malaxa, born in Husi town (Vaslui county).
Before 1940 here was made some of the best industrial romanian "engine": steam locomotive, multiple trains, etc.
After 1945 "Malaxa" factory (rename "23 August" factory and "REpublica" factory), made diesel-hydraulic locomotives (class "80"- from 1966), engine, tank wagons.
Beetwen 1945- 1990 here was made: 500.000 t industrial equipment, and beetwen 1967- 1990 here was made 5.215 diesel-hydraulic locomotive (whith power engine beetwen 100- 2.600 hp), of which 1.670 locomotives was exportet.
Also, "23 August" was the only provider at diesel engine, for romanian oil drilling ring, known in all the world.

Between 1913- 1914 was build railway yard "Bucuresti Triaj", from a initiative of Alexandru Pereiteanu, at that time, head-office of 'Romanian Railways".
In the past, it had 32 traks, and now 16 traks (in section "B").
